The taxpayer MUST make an appointment and bring last year's tax return, all of their 2014 tax documents and the original stamped paid 2014 property tax receipts or a form from their landlord showing the amount of rent paid for 2014.
The completed returns will be filed electronically with the IRS and the state. At the Monessen site, there will be a preparer who completes paper returns, which you will have to mail. If he completes your return and you decide you want it e-filed, you will have to make another appointment.
The following types of tax returns cannot be completed at these sites: rental, depreciation farms,
business and amended returns from previous years and any complex return. These need to be completed by a paid professional.
The volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS and the PA Dept. of Revenue and are
able to complete your federal, state, local and property tax/rent rebate forms.
Appointments can be made starting January 2, 2015. If for any reason you have to cancel an appointment, please call the site so that the slot may be filled with another client.
For further information, Vera Klein, local coordinator, can be reached by calling the center, and they will forward your name and phone number to her.
