As they prepare to celebrate their 92nd Christmas as a community, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God are opening their doors for neighbors and friends to share in the traditions, history and beauty of Christmas on Mt. Providence – the affectionate name for their home overlooking Pittsburgh's South Hills.
On Thursday, December 11, the Sisters will welcome visitors into their home for 'Christmas on Mt. Providence' – a spin-off of the popular 'History at Twilight' tours.
Congregational archivist Dennis Wodzinski will guide guests through over 90 years of holiday traditions and captivating history of the Sisters while touring a festively decorated motherhouse and Mary Immaculate Chapel.
The event begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 11 in the reception area of the Sisters' motherhouse, located at 3603 McRoberts Road in Whitehall. Light refreshments with the Sisters will follow the tour.
The event is free to attend, but reservations are requested. For more information and to reserve a space, please call 412-885-7231 or e-mail info@osfprov.org.
