Christmas will come a little early for some cancer patients at Monongahela Valley Hospital's Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center.

Knit Caps
Knitting Group

The knitting group from the First Baptist Church in Monongahela recently donated 14 handmade knitted caps for cancer patients. The knitting group's members, including two sisters, have been knitting together for six months and wanted to send positive thoughts and prayers to patients as they receive treatment.

Shown are knitting instructor Barbara Dash Furgiuele, sisters Suzanne Schock and Connie Caldwell, and Bonny Holmes, Mon-Vale Oncology supervisor. All three knitters live in Monongahela and Ms. Furgiuele teaches at the Memory Tree Button & Yarn Shop in Monongahela. The ladies plan to continue knitting caps to replenish their original donation.
