Traveling Exhibit Will Be On Display for Six Weeks

The Donora Historical Society was selected as a destination for the Heinz History Center's traveling Civil War exhibit that has been traveling throughout Western Pennsylvania since 2012 – the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War.

The 500 square foot exhibit will be held in partnership with the Donora Public Library and will be displayed in the lower level community room for six weeks starting on March 20, 2015 and will run through April 28, 2015 – the timeframe of which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the ending of the Civil War.

Six weeks of activities are being planned along with the exhibit, such as local Civil War displays, presentations, round table discussions, and book signings, etc. School groups, youth groups and other social groups are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Please check our website at and click on the "Civil War Exhibit" tab for a description of the exhibit and the schedule of events as it continues to unfold.

Individual and corporate sponsors are being sought. If you or your group would like to participate in any capacity, please contact the Historical Society to offer your ideas or to schedule a visit for your group by emailing us at or by calling 724-823-0364 and leaving a message.
