Lawrence Gallant, historian, explorer and author will deliver a PowerPoint presentation at the October meeting of the Peters Creek Historical Society. The title of the talk is "The Lost Colonies of Ancient America" and it will focus on the ancient cultures that visited this country in prehistoric times with archaeological proof of their presence.

 

Mr. Gallant is the associate editor of Ancient American magazine, is founder of their field investigator program, and speaks at local historical societies and conferences around the country on archaeology of the Americas before Columbus and cultural diffusion in ancient times. He is a lifetime member of the Andean Explorers Foundation and has participated in several archaeological surveys and exploratory expeditions to Mexico and South America, particularly investigating the pre-Inca cultures of the north-eastern Andes in Peru.

The program will take place at the Wright Methodist Church meeting room at 785 Venetia Road on Monday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited. Refreshments will be provided and attendance is free.
