Although only a handful of people were there to enjoy it, DJ Ralph Trilli played Motown music on Sunday, September 7. Due to the Steelers game, the crowd was sparse, but that did not stop the melodies.
Jacquelyn Pierce, Amphitheatre Committee vice president, and Matt Shorraw, Committee president, enjoy time together. |
Trilli started at 2 p.m. with Motown favorites such as: Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "My Girl," and Diana Ross' "Where Did our Love Go?"
Monessen Amphitheatre Committee President Matt Shorraw said of his choice of Motown: "I think it's fun. A lot of people requested it. So here it is."
Trilli even gave an update on the Steelers game at 2:30 p.m. in 2nd quarter: Steelers 24-3. Then, he played "ABC" by the Jacksons. Latecomers at the event filled out the small crowd.
In addition to the music, there was a kids' activity table, and anyone could join the e-mail list, with donations being accepted.
Food was available, provided by the Monessen Hilltop Fire Department, including kielbasa and sauerkraut with refreshments. RP's Barbeque was there, as always.
At 3:35 p.m., the game was tied in the 4th quarter, 27-27, and Motown music continued at the Amphitheatre. Finally, with no time left, the Steelers won the game against Cleveland, 30-27!
