Local artists of the Valley Art Club invite the public to an exhibition of their art work at the Monessen Library. A special opening reception is to be held at the library on Sunday, September 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. Those attending will enjoy refreshments provided by the members.
The highlight of this event will be the awarding of prizes for various categories of the art on display, including best oil and acrylic, best watercolor, best other media, best valley scene and, of course, best of show. It is anticipated that there will be well over 150 pieces submitted by the 22 members in many of these media. Several other divisions of subjects will also be awarded prizes. This year's theme is "What Makes You Happy."
This is the 72nd year the club has been exhibiting and the third year being hosted by the Monessen Library. Also, this year, the show will be available for viewing for three full weeks during library hours until October 10.
The judge for this event is Bill Luconti, owner of his own graphic design company, Luconti Designs, in Pittsburgh. After graduating from the Ivy School of Professional Art, he has had extensive experience in the graphic design field working with corporations throughout the region. The club is honored to have his expertise in judging the art work for this year's show.
