In the final days of July, the Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) went all-out to bring a lot of summer fun to the surrounding community. They sponsored the 2014 six-day FVFD Carnival, highlighted with a parade at mid-week and fireworks on Friday to climax carnival week. This year, for a change, there was no rain during carnival week.

The FVFD carnival is the highlight of summer in the Union-Finley Area. There, you find great food, games of chance, rides, music, your friends and neighbors, and a lot of folks you've never seen before – the event draws folks from the South Hills and Upper Mon Valley as well as the Union-Finley area. The carnival grounds were packed with fun-seekers the entire week.
Many man-hours go into this event each summer, and thanks go out to the members of the FVFD, their families, and other helpers for a great summer event. The parade on Wednesday was outstanding and the fireworks were great.
