Summer Teen Writing Workshop
When: Thursday, August 8
Time: 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Need some help polishing your writing skills? If so, you’re invited to attend our Summer Teen Writing Workshop. You’ll learn about writing an effective college entrance essay, preparing a resume, or even improving a creative writing piece. Bring a sample of your writing for the first class. Some of the topics discussed will be the various types of writing styles, grammar, and outlines. Register at the library’s circulation desk.
S.A.T. Preparation Workshop
When: 4 sessions, Sundays, September 8 - 29
Time: 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $190.00
All materials, including the student workbook, will be provided. Students are asked to bring pencils and paper for note taking. Any student who has attended the workshop in the past can return to this workshop for a tuition price of $60.00. S.A.T. test date: Saturday, October 5, 2013. Teen Notebook Decorating
When: Thursday, September 18
Time: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Get your new Notebooks all ready for back to school with some fun decorating techniques. Register at the Children's Reference Desk.
College Financial Aid Night
When: Tuesday, October 8
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
High school students and their parents can discover the ins and outs of the college financial aid process from Jayeann Harr, who will discuss a variety of methods to finance a college education, as well as looking at alternatives to the traditional college experience. The presentation will describe all federal and PA-state financial aid programs, scholarships and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application processes. Other topics will include how colleges award aid to families and how financial aid deadline dates interface with the college admissions process. Loan rates and interest rates for students and parents will also be explained. A question and answer session will follow the program.
