Summer Reading Program
Please come and join us as we host our Summer Reading Program every Wednesday through July 17. The event is for children and is free to public. The event takes place at the Lion's Field House in West Newton Please give us a call at 724-972-3229 to book your Wednesday.

Gift Baskets
Please stop by the library to check out the monthly gift basket and buy a chance to win. Also we have a great selection of mini gift baskets for kids on sale, as well as our back room book sale.

Meeting Space Available
We are currently booking our multipurpose room for fall activities. So if you have a small group or club that would like a great quite place to meet, stop by and check us out.

Jewelry Sale a Success!
We would like to thank all our donors and attendees who made our jewelry sale a great success. We will again be collecting gently used costume, fine and modern jewelry as well as watches and jewelry boxes. So if you are cleaning out your jewelry and would like to help a great cause, give us a call or stop by with your donation. We are also accepting gently used newer books for our upcoming book sale.

Computers Available For Use
We would like to announce that our 2 computers for the public are up and running for those who need access to the Internet.

Friends of the Library Seeking Members
We are actively seeking new members to join the West Newton Friends of the Library to help with fundraising and staffing the library. We are looking into expanding our hours in the fall so we need your help.

Summer Hours
Currently the library is open Monday and Friday from 12:00 noon – 6:00 pm, and Wednesday from 12:00 noon – 8:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Thanks to our volunteers that man the library.

In other news
Linda Fedrow has started a Tuesday reading hour that will recommence in September. Our Summer program each Wednesday at the Lions Field House is being conducted by board member Colleen Martinelli and her scout troop.
The library room upstairs was recently utilized for a very successful Knitting Instruction class by Mrs. LaFace and a Historical Lecture for people who traveled through West Newton in the last 200 years.
Recently Jack and Marilyn Cusick purchased the novel Sarah's Secret written by former resident Stewart Moore, currently residing in South Carolina. Also of interest to Civil War buffs, we have acquired The Woman in Battle by Loreta Fanet Velazquez. Many supporters have helped us in various ways.
A large box arrived from former resident Jo Pritchard Chestnut and her husband Dr. William Chestnut who now reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For the members of the West Newton Library, it was like opening a Christmas package. The Chestnuts donated 33 hooks that we were able to place on our reading shelves.
Mrs. Marcie Lavella , head of the Sewickley Library Board, has been working with Girl Scouts, Rose Lavelle, Emily Vargo, Samantha Williams and Julie Caudill who we working on a project to earn their Silver Badge. The girls chose to gather and donate books to the West Newton Library.
