Working in conjunction with the Bible Chapel in McMurray, “Wreaths Across America”, and “The Wounded Warrior Project”, the 2nd annual motorcycle “Ride for Wreaths and Roar for the Military” will raise funds to honor America’s soldiers, sailors, marines and air force.
Monies raised will go to purchase wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves as part of ceremonies during the holiday season. The remembrance is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on the second Saturday of December at Arlington, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
For those who served and came back hurting, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, which exists to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred service-connected injuries on or after September 11, 2001.
The ride will be held on June 8, 2013, starting at Steel City Motorcycles, 1375 Washington Road (Route 19), Washington, PA. Registration opens at 9:30 AM; bikers leave at 11:00 AM. The ride is approximately 50 miles in length. There will be a stop along the ride for a brief ceremony at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies near Cecil, before finishing at the Bible Chapel in McMurray for a cookout and music.
The donation is $20 one-up or $25 two-up. Everyone who registers on-line will receive a free ride pin! For more information, e-mail chapelroughriders@gmail.com or call Mike Holtkamp at 412-580-6054. To register: www.chapelroughriders.com
