The members of Girl Scout Troop 50428 of West Jefferson Hills are working on achieving the highest award a Junior Scout can achieve; their Bronze Award. To achieve this award, one part of their project includes hosting a “Paws and Claws Pet Supply Drive” which will benefit the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.

The girls of Troop 50428 will be collecting donation items such as pet food, toys, treats and grooming products to help make the animals' stay at the shelter more comfortable while they await adoption. Cash donations cannot be accepted per the Girl Scout guidelines. The event will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hills Fire Station, 72 Clairton Blvd.

Donations will also be accepted in a collection box that will be available at the Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital located at 171 Green Drive from Monday, June 10 until Friday, June 14. Their business hours are from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Some of the items most in need are: Dog Food, dry & canned; Dog treats, Rawhides; Martingale Dog Collars, all sizes; New 10" and larger nylon collars; 6' leashes; Bandanas; Cat Food, dry & canned; Cat treats; Cat Toys and paper bags; Rabbit, Ferret, and Bird Food; Grooming aides - shampoo, brushes, scissors and clippers
