The Monongahela Area Library, located at 813 West main Street in Monongahela will be offering the following programs and events during the month of June. For questions or additional information, please contact the library at 724-258-5409.
Children Programs
• “Questyinz” kicks off on June 1 at the library. Developed by the Allegheny County Library Association in 2012, Questyinz is an online interactive computer game. Children can obtain a game card at the library and log on to play. The game features “Quests” that involve reading topics of the child’s choosing on topics such as sports, animals, mysteries and more than a dozen other. Children who do not have a computer at home will be able to play on library computers.
• “We’re Holden Puppets” will present a puppet show, “Rodney the Magic Rabbit” on Thursday June 20 at 6:00 p.m.
• Carnegie Museum will present “Dino-Mite Dinosaurs” at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 24 for preschool, kindergarten and first grade children. At 2:00 p.m. is “Teeth and Claws: Dinosaur Diversities” for children in Grades 2 through 8.
• Children ages 30 months through 5 years are invited to join Storytime on Wednesday mornings at 11:00 a.m. beginning June 12. The program includes songs, games, free play time, and a craft in addition to three stories.
• For ‘Tweens and Teens, a program called “Beneath the Surface” offers independent guided reading and activities along with group meetings. First meeting is June 13 at 6:00 p.m., but packets are available in advance.
Adult Programs
• Book Bites, Monongahela Area Library's adult light mystery and fiction book club, will meet on Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. to discuss "The Shape Shifter" by Tony Hillerman. The program is open to all members of the region, not just Monongahela patrons. Copies of the book are available.
