Volunteers dedicated to preserving the Trolley Era largely staff our nonprofit, educational Museum. Volunteers are crucial to our growth and the museum would not exist without them. Our volunteers ignite the public’s interest in trolley car history and preservation. These men and women volunteer in all aspects of the museum from maintenance to interpretation. In 2012, more than 150 active volunteers gave over 30,000 hours of service to the museum.

As a volunteer, you’ll meet new people and form lasting friendships. Aside from working hard, volunteers enjoy many social gatherings, such as parties, cookouts, and the annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet. Students can also fulfill internship and volunteer hour requirements by working at the museum. Museum volunteers encompass ages from teenager to 93 and professions from teaching to retired transit workers. The minimum requirement to volunteer is an outgoing personality and willingness to learn, though some positions require specialized skills.
Please RSVP to Lynne Thompson at educator@pa-trolley.org or 724-228-9256. The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is located opposite the Washington County Fairgrounds. To learn more about the museum go to our website at www.patrolley.org.
