Monongahela will be the place to be for dogs lovers on May 18. What better way to spend a spring morning than with your four legged friend? Whether you are a dog owner or admirer, The Susan Withers Pooch Parade will be the site for fun, laughs and plenty of woof woof woofs.
This year we are honoring its founder Susan Wither's, who as a past MARC member, was instrumental in developing the parade out of her love of dogs and all animals. The Parade event consists of registration at Chess Park in Monongahela (gazebo) at 10 am. There will be a $5 fee to enter your dog which will help MARC fund other activities and events throughout the year. The parade will officially begin at 11 am continuing down Main St. and ending at the Aquatorium. This will give the dogs and owners the chance to show off their stuff!
At the Aquatorium, MARC has a lineup of activities and entertainment to make for a beautiful afternoon. First off, you'll want to try MARC's Gourmet Hot Dog's for lunch with a ton of choices as toppings! Then you can take some time to wander through a variety of dog related vendors and businesses that cater to your furry friend. Then, let the show begin! MARC has invited interesting guest speakers to educate and enlighten all dog owners and potential owners about owning and caring for your cherished pet. We'll round out the day with prizes for many categories such as smallest/biggest dog, funniest, stupid pet trick, dog that looks most like owner, etc.
Check out our posters throughout the valley with a full listing of participants or call 724-258-3485 for more info. Also, be looking for dates and selected movies for MARC's "Movies at the Mounds" summer film series starting in June - Aug. If you enjoy the summer hanging flower baskets and plantings throughout Monongahela, join MARC to get involved in making beauty and excitement happen in our community! See you at the parade!
