ADULT PROGRAMS
The Murder and Mayhem Mystery Book Club will meet Monday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. This month’s mystery selection is The Thin Woman by Dorothy Cannell. Extra copies of the book are available at the front desk. Killer desserts served. Newcomers welcome.
The Writers Group and Lifestory Writing group will meet together on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Program Room. Beginning and experienced writers in any genre including memoir writing are invited to participate. Please bring a sample essay or writing excerpt to share with the group.
Spring Wise Walk will begin April 10 at 9:00 a.m. in the Library with an informational meeting, followed by a walk along Corrigan Drive in South Park. The 10 week program allows participants to walk with a group at their own pace. The group will meet in Children’s Playground parking lot at South Park at 9:30 a.m. for the remaining 9 weeks. Free step counters, t-shirts and weekly snacks are provided. Contact the Library at 412-655-2424 to register.
A Genealogy Lock-In will be held on Saturday, April 13 during the Library’s afterhours from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Participants will have access to all Library computers and free use of Ancestry.com. without the usual library distractions. Teena Hintz, staff genealogy expert, will be available to offer assistance, help with research and to answer questions. Registration is required and is limited.
Bird Watching - The Pleasant Hills Library and the Arboretum are co-sponsoring a series of bird watching opportunities on Sundays during April and May at 8:00 a.m. in the Arboretum. The group will be led by Bob Mulvihill, bird watching enthusiast and ornithologist. All ages are welcome to participate. Interested participants should meet in the Arboretum parking lot with their binoculars and bird field guides if they have them on the following Sundays: April 14, 21, 28, May 5 and 19.
The Book Group, the evening book discussion group, will meet on Monday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. The book is the One Book One Community selection, People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. Copies of the book are available at the front desk
Tai Chi - A new session of Tai Chi will begin on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. The class will run for eight weeks and will be taught by Judy Crow. The class is suitable for both beginners and those experienced with tai chi. Fee for the Class is $50 payable at the first class.

One Book Every Young Child - The Bus for Us: Monday, April 1 at 7:00 pm. Let’s kick off the month of One Book Every Young Child by celebrating transportation in all of its forms! Preschool Story Time: Tuesdays, April 2 and 9 at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Explore different themes through stories, songs, crafts, and a snack! For children ages 3 1/2 to 6 years old, with or without a caregiver. No registration necessary.
Baby Book Nook: Wednesdays, April 3 and 10 at 10:30 am. Nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more! For children birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.
Tot Time: Thursdays, April 4 and 11 at 10:30 am. Learn and grow with stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities and a snack! For children ages 2 to 3 1/2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.
Teen Talk: Saturday, April 6 @1:00 pm. Stuff your face with delicious pizza while enjoying conversation with friends and a variety of games! Have a favorite game? Bring it with you! Tell your friends! For students in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

After School Adventures - Exploding Science: Wednesday, April 10 at 4:00 pm. What happens when you mix together an acid and a base? They erupt! Come prepared to get messy as we investigate what makes things explode! A $1 donation, per child, is requested – collected at event. For children in Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Preschool Yoga: Tuesdays, April 23 – May 28 at 1:30 pm. Wear comfy clothes to stretch and unwind while learning fun yoga poses perfect for little bodies!
