There are many ways to help our troops serving overseas, and Military Connections Corporation is on top of things. See below for a variety of ways to help out.
All donations can be mailed to: Military Connections, 312 Auburn Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Supply donations are accepted there or at Northwest Savings Bank at the junction of Route 88 and Clifton Road in Bethel Park. If you would like to volunteer, contact the group at militaryconnections@hotmail.com to join our volunteer list. Also, if you have a loved one serving overseas, add his or her name to our database so that they can receive care packages from us, too! Make sure to get their address to us in time for the upcoming Easter shipments.
Send An Easter Egg Hunt
Springtime and Easter are quickly approaching. Holidays are always a tough time for men and women to be deployed. Help brighten the day of a service member by sending an "Easter Egg Hunt" overseas. For a $10 donation, a service member in Afghanistan will receive an Easter Egg Hunt in a bag! Each bag is filled with food, snacks, and plastic Easter eggs filled with candy. If you would like to sponsor a service member, please send $10 to Military Connections Corporation. Your donation will cover the cost and contents of the Easter Egg Hunt. You can also include a note or picture, and we will place it in the finished package. To ensure that the Easter Egg Hunts reach the troops by Easter, we need to ship by March 18.
Want to make your own Easter Egg Hunt to donate? Simply take a gallon-size Ziploc bag and line it with Easter grass. Buy 12 plastic eggs (any size), fill them with candy, and place them in the bag. Please remember that all candy must be wrapped! We will add the other items to make your package complete. This is a great activity for the whole family. Eggs need to be dropped off at Military Connections no later than March 1. Donations accepted at Military Connections, Oakmont Chamber of Commerce, and Northwest Savings Bank on Route 88 at Clifton Road. All donations are tax-deductible.
Adopt a Soldier's Girl Scout Cookies
It is Girl Scout Cookie time! Each year the Girl Scouts drop off thousands of cases of cookies for the troops. For us to ship the cookies, it costs $12.50 a case. You can help the troops enjoy the cookies by adopting a case of cookies. Cookies start to arrive in February, and the last case ships in May. If you have cookies to donate, please contact us at militaryconnections@hotmail.com.
4th Annual Golf Outing
Our golf outing is planned for Friday, June 14. We are in need of gift cards, bottles of cheer, and new golf balls for our raffles.
Do You Have Old Cell Phones?
Donate your old cell phones to Military Connections. The phones are turned in for calling cards so that the troops can call home.
Help Fill Our Shelves
We are always in need of donations for care packages. Top-needed supplies are canned goods with pop-top lids, beef jerky, packets of tuna, cereal, Chapstick/lip balm, mints/gum, baby powder, individual packs of cookies and crackers, power bars, powdered Gatorade and drink mixes, and AA batteries.
Wounded Troops
In addition to our troops serving overseas, we also ship several boxes each month to wounded troops in both the U.S. and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Wounded troops are in need of: white socks, puzzle books, snacks, gum, stationary, pens, postage stamps, blankets, playing cards, board games, puzzles, and hoodie sweatshirts with zippers (gray or black).
