"Boats on the Ohio" is the featured program to be presented at the Peters Creek Historical Society, on Monday, August 24, at 7:30 pm.   This program will be presented at Wright's United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia.

Boat
The W.P. Snyder Tow Boat

Norene Beatty, President of the Old Stone Tavern of West End, will tell the story of boats that traveled the Ohio River and down the Mississippi from the keel boat to the tow boats and the little known of special interest "sailing ships". The boats that once plied the Ohio and its tributaries over the years and continue to transport goods on the river are significant in the growth of Pittsburgh, our nation and commerce. Members and the public are welcome to an evening of what is sure to be a fascinating and enlightening program of local historical interest.

The society has scheduled its 2020 Open House tours of the Enoch Wright House, Museum of Westward Expansion. Docents will be on hand Tuesdays from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm – 3:00pm August through September. Please check website for any changes.
