Dear Editor,

The February 2020 edition of the South Hills-Mon Valley Messenger contained an article about the Law Enforcement Appreciation Day event held at Ringgold Elementary School North. The police departments and officers present were recognized. However, Officer Rob Vitalbo was identified as RESN Security from Ringgold School Security. I would like to clarify and give the proper recognition. The Ringgold School District Police Department is a state recognized police department and it utilizes sworn officers that carry weapons and have extensive training including active shooter/violent intruder training. Officer Vitalbo previously served in the Donora Borough Police Department. We are very fortunate and grateful to have this level of protection at our schools. We appreciate Officer Vitalbo not only as a professional but as a role model and resource for the students.

Respectfully,

RESN parents - Shawn and Jaymi Moody
