Judge McDonald Kemp

Judge McDonald Kemp won both the Republican and Democrat primary elections in May of this year. Because of her win across party lines, Governor Tom Wolf placed her name before the state Senate which confirmed her interim appointment in June. She was elected to a full 10-year term of office in November and is the first African-American woman to serve in that position. She is also the first black woman to be elected to county-wide office.

A Washington High School, Clarion University and the University of Pittsburgh Law School graduate, she has previously served as Magisterial District Judge, and Assistant District Attorney for Washington County.
