Tastings and Pairings Flavor Historical Event
A time line of vintage clothing will offer a look at Monongahela’s 250 years of history during a whiskey pairing at Rippel’s on the Creek 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.
Clothes from World War II’s front lines and home front will be featured for the fashion show and whiskey tastings and pairings as part of Monongahela’s 250th anniversary. |
Sharon and Wesley Rippel will host “A Liquid Journey Through Our City’s Early Years” at their event center to support Monongahela’s 250th Anniversary while Debbie Popp Gilbert will arrange the time line drawn from Elizabeth Township Historical Society’s clothing collection.
“Sharon and I both dressed in costumes for the town’s 200th anniversary and are thrilled to help promote Monongahela’s history and vibrancy now,” Mrs. Gilbert said.
Captain for the ‘liquid journey’ will be Ruth Ann Tatar of Ruth Ann’s Whiskey Flights and Pairings from Southern Glazers Wines and Spirits. John and Son Catering will cater foods to complement the whiskey flavors. Re-enactors will don period clothing from the Whiskey Rebellion era 1791-1794 and the later Lewis and Clark expedition whose flatboats were constructed on the Monongahela River in nearby Elizabeth.
