‘Giant Scale Model Airplane Fly-In’ coming to Cedar Creek Park

The event will feature EXtreme Flight Pilots: Tavis Newman and Adam Masterson. Special guest announcers: Greg Poppel and Leo Rodriguez will be in attendance. The highlight of this weekend event is from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday. The public is invited to spectate static displays of aircraft and to witness flying of all types of R/C aircraft including, but not limited to, Turbine Jets, War-Birds, Helicopters, Quadrotors, First-Person View (FPV), and other air frames. Some aircraft will reach to 40% scale size.

The event is filled with eyefuls of gravity-defying aerial R/C flying by amazing R/C pilots and their state-of-the-art aircraft. Some of the pilots participating in the event live in Western Pennsylvania, while other pilots participating in the event live in adjoining states, such as West Virginia and Ohio. There will be night flying at dusk on Friday and Saturday.

The event is FREE and is especially well-suited for individuals or families who are looking to have a great time and who want to learn more about this exciting hobby. Food will be available for purchase during the airshow. Handicapped and on-site parking is available.

The Mon Valley R/C Club offers flying opportunities for novice and experienced pilots. We conduct small group instructor-led classes for individuals who have an interest in learning how to fly aircraft with an emphasis on "how to fly safely". Safety is our number one priority. The Academy of Model Aeronautics offers FREE membership for junior flyers up to age 18. Our goal is to "Set You Up For Success" beginning with your very first flight. We pair new flyers with a seasoned flyer using a buddy box . This is a hobby anyone could enjoy for a lifetime. There is no age limit to this hobby. All we ask is for you to have an interest in the hobby and that you want to have fun flying.

The MVRC airfield is located in Cedar Creek Park near the intersections of RT 51 and Interstate 70. For more details about the classes and to learn more about club membership, please visit the monvalleyrc.com website or contact Dr. Linda Wojnar, Club Secretary - 412-654-7867
