The Monessen Public Library hosted a ‘Block Party’ on Monday, June 17 to help bring local children and their families together for some fun.

The event featured large board games, 4 square, kickball, hopscotch, bubbles, chalk, hot dogs, chips, water, and snow cones.

Christian Center Church of Rostraver, sponsored the event, and snow cones were provided by the Redevelopment Committee. The unique church caters to families and has children’s day-care, preschool and ministries during the week.

Lisa Lyons, Director of Outreach Ministries at the Christian Center Church of Rostraver, said that last year at their church, a weekly event was held by Brenda and Mark DiEugenio, inviting kids to play games without electronic devices. Lisa contacted Brenda this year and suggested moving the event to the Monessen Public Library using the parking lot and grass fields. The turn-out on June 17 was excellent, with about 40 kids in attendance.
