Tomb Guard Will Speak at Elizabeth Township Historical Society
Twenty one steps and pivot. David Mahlstedh repeated this throughout his eight-hour shift as a Tomb Guard at the Tomb of the Unkowns in Arlington National Cemetery. The repetitive action alludes to the 21-gun salute, the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.

The Elizabeth Township Historical Society will feature Mahlstedh as a speaker on Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. He will give a slide presentation about this historic cemetery that bears witness to our American heritage and sacrifice of men and women in U.S. uniforms. This event in conjunction with Third Thursday at the Greenock United Methodist Church will be held at the church at 1213 Greenock Buena Vista Road, Elizabeth Township. The church’s outreach Committee sponsors Third Thursday for topical discussions and lunch monthly.
