This month’s project will be the installation of fence rails at MP37.25, near the Brownsville Extension parking area. Beginning in January 2019 regular work parties will be scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month.

The South Hills Friends are responsible for maintenance of the Montour Trail between Library and Clairton. Individuals interested in the Montour Trail are encouraged to attend. Additional information concerning the trail, including South Hills Friends contact information, may be obtained on the Montour Trail web site www.montourtrail.org. Questions may be directed to info@montourtrail.org.

The next meeting of the South Hills Friends of the Montour Trail will be held on December 11, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the South Park Township Library located at 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park, PA.

Photo at right:  This section of the Montour Trail in South Park Township (MP37.25), was damaged by stream bank erosion in 2018. The bank was repaired, but it was steepened in the area of the photo and the trail shoulder narrowed. The posts were installed as part of a new safety fence. Trail volunteers will install the fence rails at a December 8 work party (subject to weather conditions).
