Monongahela Valley Hospital employees gave Santa’s elves some strong competition as the leadership staff joined together to build riding toys and assemble gift baskets for the local Toys for Tots’ 2018 campaign.

For more nearly 25 years, Doug Prentice, MVH’s storeroom manager, and John Bogdan, nurse manager, have led the health system’s annual toy drive. They are pictured (L to R) with Wally Fronzaglio (center) from the Mon Valley Leathernecks.

Wally Fronzaglio, a Donora resident who has served as the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots coordinator for 31 years, witnessed the teamwork at the Oct. 18 event.

“The cozy coupes and tricycles are always a big hit with the kids,” said Mr. Fronzaglio as he accepted the donated gifts on behalf of the Mon Valley Leathernecks, a group of former Marines who do the legwork for the local Toys for Tots program. “You are giving local children a toy they may never have owned, and sending a message of hope to the less fortunate in our community.”

This holiday season, collection boxes will be placed around the hospital and at the Monongahela Valley Hospital HealthPlex to collect toys for the drive.
