The Community College of Allegheny County’s South Campus will host its first-ever 5K race on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 10:00 a.m.
The event is open to the college and the wider community. Proceeds from the race will benefit CCAC South Campus student clubs and organizations.
Trophies will be awarded to the overall top male and female winners, and medals will be awarded to the top three males and the top three females in each age group. Runners will be competing in seven age groups: 12–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60+.
Cost to register through Oct. 7 is $25. CCAC students will receive a $5 discount. There will be no same day registration.
Race check-in and bib pick-up will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The race will begin at 10:00 a.m. across from the campus bus stop and will end under the bridge to B Building. Parking will be available in G lot. The campus will be closed to traffic between 9:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
The South Campus Student Government Association is sponsoring the race, and many students involved in clubs and organizations at the campus will serve as volunteers on race day.
