The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western PA (MGA) invites all dog lovers to enjoy a fun day together at South Park on Sunday, October 21 2018 for the 10th Annual MGA Pooch Parade.
This family-friendly event features a one mile fun walk on a paved trail beginning at the Dog Park at South Park. All registered participants will receive morning refreshments, courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts and United Dairy, a goody bag, an official t-shirt, and a bandana for their dog.
Registration begins at 9:00 am and the “Pooch Parade” begins at 10:00 am. Walkers without dogs and even virtual walkers are also welcome to participate. MGA encourages people to form a team and walk in honor or in memory of a loved one with MG.
The event features a costume contest with prizes for best dog and best dog/owner combo costumes, as well as prizes for top individual and team fundraisers. There will be free Halloween candy and face painting for the kids, and fabulous raffles of gift baskets and silent auctions. A variety of vendors will be on hand to provide information and products of interest to dog lovers, including the “Ask-the-Vet” booth hosted by the Bethel Park Animal Clinic. Once again this year – MGA is partnering with South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) and asking Pooch Parade participants to bring a donation of pet food for the SHIM Food Pantry.
Proceeds from the Pooch Parade will benefit the free patient support services at the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania (MGA), a private, non-profit that provides treatment and free support services to those with myasthenia gravis – a chronic autoimmune muscle weakness disorder. MG can strike anyone of any age and there is no known cause or cure.
So bring your “best friend”, canine or human, and enjoy a morning of fun while supporting people with
myasthenia gravis. Visit mgawpa.org to download a registration form or call 412-566-1545 for more information.
