The 4th Annual ‘Day of Hope’ took place at Charleroi Trustees Park on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Sponsored by the CityReach Church in Charleroi, the event is an outreach ministry that offers free services to the community.

‘Day of Hope’ organizers, Pastor Gregg Anders with wife Joyce, of CityReach Church in Charleroi.

The church worked hard all year long to raise funds for the event and plan the activities.

Since 2015, the free services they have been able to provide include: more than 400 hair cuts, over 400 dental check ups, over 500 health screenings, and 350 flu shots. Additionally, 3,300 people have enjoyed lunches, 1,200 families received groceries, and 10,000 items of clothing have been distributed.

“Where else, can you go and spend an entire day and not spend a dime?” said Pastor Gregg Anders of CityReach Church. “That is what we want the Day of Hope to be about. A time where families, couples, and even single people can come and enjoy a pleasant day where everyone is friendly.”

Pastor Anders thanked the local businesses and supporters who donate to this cause. “We have had some great sponsors over the last several years,” he said. “We have been fortunate to get donations from businesses as well as discounts to help.”
