“When I look around this room, this is the Valley,” remarked Louis J. Panza Jr., president and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital, in his remarks during the 2018 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. “We are the vibrant hospital we are today because of people like our volunteers. They help make high-quality health care available for this community.”

More than 100 volunteers, guests and MVH employees attended the Aug. 3 event in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center. Among the groups recognized were:

  • “Ask Me” Greeters
  • Volunteer Chaplains
  • Lynwood Lutheran Church who provides Shawls of Love
  • Mon Valley Quilt Club who provides Linus Blankets
  • Our Lady of the Valley of Donora who provides Dignity Robes
  • Victory Hill Ladies Auxiliary who provides hats, scarves and gloves
  • Zonta Club of Washington County who provides clothing

Melissa Marion, director of the Office of Fund Development, who provided the welcome and closing remarks; left the group with a powerful message, “Albert Einstein once said, ‘Only a life lived for others is worth living.’ You, our volunteers, are the essence of this quote.”
