Paddle the Mon River from California to Belle Vernon

Bring your kayaks and canoes! Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a 7 mile paddle on the Monongahela River on Saturday, August 25 for the ‘New Beginnings’ Paddle which will be held during the ‘Riverfest’ activities in California, PA August 25 – 26.

The paddle will start at the newly restored and rehabbed launch in California PA, near the California University Campus off of Union Street. The paddle will end in Belle Vernon. Snack and refreshments will be provided at start and end of paddle. (Rain date for the paddle is Sunday, August 26, 2018).

The Launch has been improved and restored this year with the assistance of the Mon River Town Program and funding provided by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. California Borough also matched the funds and moved the project along through several obstacles.

Pre-registration and tickets are required.   Cost to participate is $15. Participants can register at:

We recommend you make arrangements to park at the ending location, in Belle Vernon or be met there to be shuttled back to your vehicle. We will offer specific directions to parking during check in.
