Local businesses are teaming up together again for a springtime ‘Sip & Shop Saturday’ in Elizabeth Borough on Saturday, May 5.

After a successful event around Valentine’s Day earlier this year, shop owners are pairing sales and raffles alongside specialty drink samples to prepare for Mother’s Day a week ahead of time, as well as Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby.

In the last two years, four new retail businesses and one dining business have opened within the historic shopping district of Downtown Elizabeth --- and more are opening up later this year!

During the last ‘Sip & Shop Saturday,’ many participants discovered several of these new shops for the first time as well as explored new offerings from well-established sites. This next event will also include a free lunch cookout from The Anglican Church of the Transfiguration from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the corner of Plum and 2nd.

Shoppers can make the day into a special occasion by topping off their day with tickets to the K-9 Purse Bash at the Elizabeth Boro VFC Bingo Hall at 4:30 p.m. or tickets to Mon River Arts’ production of “Sister Act the Musical” at 7:30 p.m. that evening.

Interested shoppers can visit www.downtownelizabeth.comand the Downtown Elizabeth Facebook page to learn more about this event’s updates and participating shops.
