State Rep. Bud Cook Announces More Than $301,450 Awarded to 49th District Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Companies

State Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) announced today that 24 volunteer fire and ambulance companies throughout the 49th Legislative District have qualified to receive approximately $301,456 from a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Whether it’s saving lives or protecting property, few duties are more essential than those that our emergency first responders selflessly perform on a regular basis,” said Cook. “I applaud all of the men and women of our volunteer fire and EMS companies for qualifying for this funding, and most importantly, for their service in keeping our communities safe. I am especially pleased to see this funding returning to our area in a way that benefits and helps to protect every person in the 49th Legislative District.”

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
