The Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) held its “On Your MARC” The Best Yet 5K Run/Walk, presented by Cox Market, on September 30 through the neighborhoods of Monongahela and New Eagle.

George Eckert, the race director and current President of MARC, stated, “This was definitely a community event, as 90% of the 112 participants were from the Monongahela, New Eagle, Carroll Township, and Charleroi areas.”

Carl Sutherland of Monongahela was the overall running winner with a time of 19:46.7. The fastest time recorded in the women’s division was by Amy Kootz, also from Monongahela, timed at 23:20.2

In the walking event, the overall winner was Lisa Black (40:10.9) and in the men’s division was Joe Mancinelli (42.49.8) of Charleroi.

MARC would like to thank the business community who sponsored the race.
