Event Starts at Bethel Park Senior High School

 The Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation will hold its Third Annual "Joey Fabus Superhero Run Over DIPG" 5K Run/1 Mile Walk on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Bethel Park Senior High School.  Race day registration begins at 7:30 am with a 9:00 am start.

On May 15, 2014, 8 year old Joey Fabus was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an inoperable brain tumor located in the most essential part of the brain, the brain stem. Considered rare, DIPG attacks approximately 300 children per year.  Every child diagnosed with DIPG will die from DIPG, usually in less than a year.

On January 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, Joey Fabus died because of DIPG.

The https://www.facebook.com/JoeyFabusChildhoodCancerFoundation/?fref=mentions">Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation uses funds raised to help with that research.  After our first 5K in 2015, the foundation donated $50,000.  After last year’s 5K, we donated another $21,000.

This will be a great morning of strength and inspiration as the community comes together to fight the monster that is DIPG. We encourage you to wear a superhero shirt, mask, cape etc.  Joey loved Captain America among other superheroes, but everyone that knew Joey realizes that he was the closest thing to a real superhero any of us has ever known.

  • Prices through August 31,2017:  $25/adult,  $15/child, 12 and under
  • Prices between September 1, 2017 and September 10, 2017: $30/adult, $15/child, 12 and under
  • Prices between September 11, 2016 through Race Day: $35/adult, $15/child, 12 and under
  • 1-Mile Walk:  $15 through September 16, 2016.  Race Day: $20
