Chris Marinack of Ellsworth, PA knows fighting the battle against cancer requires a group effort. That’s why Ms. Marinack and her friends at the Mrs. Claus Club of Bentleyville have banded together to help others who suffer from the disease.

The Warrior Quilt

On Mother’s Day, Ms. Marinack’s name was drawn as the winner of a Warrior Quilt from entries gathered at Neighborhood Ford Store’s Patchwork Station at the recent Race for the Cure event held in Schenley Park.

Jim Davies, owner of Davies Ford in Charleroi, presented Ms. Marinack with the Warrior Quilt and a gift certificate from his dealership on May 25. Ms. Marinack plans to give the quilt to the Mrs. Claus Club of Bentleyville for a later donation so it can encourage and inspire others suffering from breast cancer.

Each year, Race for the Cure attendees come to Patchwork Station to decorate quilt squares that are later incorporated into Warrior Quilts made by volunteers. The quilts are then either donated for fund-raising events or given to treatment centers to bring comfort and support to those battling breast cancer.

The Warrior Quilt program is a regional program associated with Ford’s Warriors in Pink campaign. For more information on the Warrior Quilt Project, please visit www.QuiltForTheCure.com
