The Harvest’s Bounty Program is a food assistance program for students is offered through the “No Kid Hungry” initiative. Students who do not have a secure source of food may experience three prevalent consequences of hunger while in school:
- Inability to concentrate
- Poor academic performance
- Headaches and stomach aches
Harvest’s Bounty is a program designed to provide students with simple, healthy foods which may be easily prepared by a child over the weekend. The Charleroi Middle School started this program in December of 2014. The Charleroi Elementary Center began the program in September of 2015. It is estimated that we will need $30,000-$36,000 to fund one year of this program. This is a huge endeavor that we are undertaking, and we are asking for the help of the Mon Valley and surrounding communities.
We will be holding a vendor and craft show that will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Charleroi Area Elementary Center. The proceeds from this fundraising event will be donated to the Harvest’s Bounty Program. In addition to the vendor and craft show, we will have a concession stand, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing.
This day promises to be a fun event for our entire community. We hope to see many of our friends as they come out to support those in need.
Any questions regarding this event can be made by calling the Charleroi Area Elementary Center at
