The new Montour Trail section between the Library Viaduct and Pleasant Street in South Park Township was opened to trail users on November 15 after 4 months of construction.

It will no longer be necessary for trail users to travel through Library on PA Route 88. The new route east from trail milepost 35 will be over the Library Viaduct and the new trail to Pleasant Street, south on Pleasant Street to Brownsville Road, east on Brownsville Road to Stewart Road, left on Stewart Road and right onto the trail just after crossing Piney Fork Creek on Stewart Road. Signs with maps and boxes with paper maps will be located at Pleasant Street and the Stewart Road Trailhead to help trail users through the remaining 1.1 mile of on-road trail route.
