Each year, Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) kicks off the Toys for Tots Campaign in the Mon Valley. On October 20, teams of MVH leaders created 13 baskets filled with dolls, games, puzzles and other toys, including four baskets for special needs children. They also assembled 13 riding toys for the local Toys for Tots.
Displaying the colorful riding toys are (l to r) John Bogdan, Wally Fronzaglio and Doug Prentice. |
Wally Fronzaglio, a Donora resident who has served as the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserve Toys for Tots coordinator for the past 29 years, watched the toy assembly. He then accepted the donated gifts on behalf of the Mon Valley Leathernecks, a group of former Marines who do the legwork for the local Toys for Tots program.
For more nearly 20 years, MVH’s John Bogdan, Behavioral Health nurse manager, and Doug Prentice, storeroom manger, have championed the Hospital’s annual toy drive. In addition to assembling the toys, the staff of Monongahela Valley Hospital places Toys for Tots collection boxes throughout the hospital campus. Members of the community are also welcome to donate toys at the hospital. Anyone interested in contributing, may drop off a new, unwrapped toy to Monongahela Valley Hospital’s Gift Shop. Checks also are welcome. They should be made payable to “Toys for Tots” and mailed to Wally Fronzaglio, 204 Brokaw Ave., Donora, PA 15033.
