Three of Enoch Wright’s ten grandchildren, progeny of Enoch’s only child, Rev. Joseph Wright, and wife Catherine Hopkins.

Mrs. Amato will speak about pioneer life in the family of Enoch Wright, whose history began with his father Joshua who, in 1772 applied for a Virginia certificate to purchase land in the Peters Creek watershed area of Venetia, Peters Township, Pennslyvania. Joshua was a farmer as well as a New Orleans trader. He took an active role in the community as constable in 1775, a Justice of the Peace in 1776 and served on the courts of Yohogania County from 1776-1780. Enoch, the only son and middle child of Joshua and Charity Sawin(s), was born March 10, 1776 on his parents' farm. By 1815, Enoch built the Wright House and was known to be a capable, wealthy man, who possessed a large amount of real estate, served as county commissioner, and often was addressed as “Squire Wright”.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at Wright’s United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia and is open to the public.
