Fourteen year-old Kas began scouting as a Tiger Cub in Pack 1313, which is sponsored by St. Benedict the Abbot Church in McMurray, PA. As a Cub Scout, Kas earned the Arrow of Light Award, the highest attainable award in Cub Scouts. Since his crossover to Boy Scout Troop 1313, Kas has advanced through the ranks at an impressive pace. Attendance at National Youth Leadership Training prepared Kas for his roles as Assistant Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aide, Troop Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. He is a Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society. Kas also proudly earned the Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei, and Ad Altare Dei Catholic Awards. To date, he has earned sixty-six merit badges.

Having been adopted from the Republic of Belarus in August 2003, Kas wanted to, “give back to kids who started out just like me.” For his Eagle Project, he organized a collection and delivery of toys, books, formula, and non-perishable food items for the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh. Additionally, he oversaw the construction and delivery of two bookshelves. Kas plans to remain active in Troop 1313 and is looking forward to attending the National Scout Jamboree in July of this year.
