Library News

 Pleasant Hills Public Library announces June events.

Annual Summer Reading Kick-Off Celebration at Pleasant Kingdom Playground: Saturday, June 4 at 1 p.m. Join us for larger-than-life games, spectacular crafts, and delicious ice cream sundaes in celebration of summer. Sign up for Summer Reading Club while you’re there and receive a fun good bag. 401 East Bruceton Road. Please register.

Pj Family Story Time – Great Races:  Monday, June 6 at 7 p.m. Whether it’s a marathon or just a sprint around a track, racing is fun. Join us for stories, songs, games, crafts, and a delicious snack. Wear your PJs and bring a stuffed friend to join in the fun. Family program. Please register.

Preschool Storytime: Tuesdays, June 7  -  August 30 at 10:30 am and 1:30 p.m. Explore different themes  -  stories, songs, crafts, and a snack. For children ages 3 ½ to 6 years old, with or without a caregiver. No registration necessary.

Baby Book Nook: Wednesdays, June 8  -  August 31 at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Due to popular demand, we added another time. Nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more. For children ages birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.

Tot Time: Thursdays, June 9  -  August 25 at 10:30 a.m. Learn and grow with stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities, and a snack. For children ages 2 to 3 ½ years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.

Teen Talk: Thursdays, June 9  -  August 11 at 12:30 p.m. Stuff your face with delicious pizza while playing games and hanging out with friends. For teens going into grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

Tail Wagging Tutors: Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. The dogs are back at the library. Trained therapy dogs will be here hoping to hear a story or two. Practice your reading skills while enjoying the company of some furry friends. For children ages 4 and up — reading ability encouraged but not required. Please register.

Sportacular Steam: Wednesdays, June 15 - August 10 at 2 p.m. Explore elementary science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics found in the world of sports. For children entering grades 1 – 5. Please register.

Anime Club: Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. New time for summer. Do you enjoy anime and manga? Come talk with fellow fans, watch some anime, try some Japanese snacks, and learn about new and interesting titles. For teens in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

‘Hole-In-One Mini-Golf in The Library’ Fundraiser: Friday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. Play mini-golf inside the library and help the Library raise “green fees” at the same time. It will be a full 18-hole course for teams of up to 5 with prizes and “Arnie Palmers” for all at the 19th hole. Staggered tee times will be scheduled. Tickets are $7 for each player, $4 for each child ages 3 – 10 years old. For more information and to reserve a time, call the Library at 412-655-2424.

Taco Tuesdays: Teen Book Discussion: Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. Join Miss Terry for lively discussion and delicious snacks. Request this month’s selection at the circulation desk. For students in grades 6—12. Please register.

Chick-Fil-A Family Craft Night: Tuesday, June 28 at 5 p.m. Stop by Chick-fil-A Restaurant on Route 51 to make a fun craft or two and enjoy a free kids 4 piece nugget or strip meal*. Drop by anytime between 5 – 7 p.m. Family program. No registration necessary. This program will take place at Chick-fil-A Restaurant located at 461 Clairton Blvd. *Free kids meal with purchase of adult combo or entree salad.

Lego Extravaganza Club: Wednesday, June 29 at 4 p.m. We’ll have Legos you can use but feel free to bring your own. For children ages 3 and up. Please register.
