The Castle Shannon Library recently announced the following events.

OASIS Connections Computer Classes for Adults 50 & Older

Please stop in the Library to register. Registration is required. This program is being offered in partnership with Pittsburgh OASIS and is underwritten by   The Fine Foundation. All computer classes are held from 10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Windows 10

Think Windows 10 will be tough to learn? Not with this course! Windows 8.1 will soon be replaced with Windows 10. Learn about universal apps, the new Start menu, multiple desktops that can contain a mix of new and old apps – all fully resizable, Edge, the new browser… and more. Windows 10 will be introduced as a free upgrade to anyone with Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Classes run Monday, May 16 - Friday, May 20 (if needed)

Cost: $20 for all five classes

*Please bring your Windows tablet or laptop. If you do not have one, you can look on with someone who does.

iPad iOS9

Apple's iOS9 for the iPad introduces a ton of exciting new features including enhanced security, family sharing of apps, calendars, and photo albums, panoramic and time-lapse photo, flyover tours, and much, much more. This course is a comprehensive introduction to using the iPad including all of the included apps.

Classes run Monday, May 23 - Friday, May 27 and Tuesday, May 31, Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2 (if needed)

Cost: $30 for all eight classes

*Please bring your iPad---If you do not have one, you can look on with someone who does.

Monthly Book Discussion Group

Join the group for some light discussion on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Library. Please stop in the library to pick up your copy of the book. The group will be discussing The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton on May 9.

Crafternoons for Adults and Seniors at the Library

What is it? An afternoon solely devoted to the joys of craft. Join us the third Wednesday of each month from 2:30-4:30 p.m. This is an informal gathering and a chance to meet new people and learn new craft ideas. Adults ages 18 and over welcome. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 18. If you cannot make it in the afternoon, stop by between 6 – 8 p.m. that night.We will be doing ADULT COLORING this month along with your craft ideas.

Makerspace-Wednesdays, from 5:30-6:15 p.m.

Makerspace is a program dedicated to the wonderful world of discovery. In this workshop, you will do only one thing – use your imagination! We will be exploring how to create, build, and play with all sorts of fun and zany materials. We hope to see you there! Ages 7-14 (families are welcome). Registration is required to make sure enough supplies are available.

Minecraft Night-Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Do you love to play Minecraft? Join us for games, snacks, and Minecraft fun! Registration is required to make sure enough supplies are available. All ages are welcome!
