Peters Township Public Library recently announced its March Events.

Secrets of Landscape Design

When: Tuesday, March 1

Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

 Whether you do-it-yourself or want your landscape done for you, come learn from Penn State Horticulturalist Evan Evanovich how to make your landscape compliment and add value to your home or business. Learn how to design and shape your shrubbery beds, how to use the shapes and heights of shrubs to elongate your home or business, and how to coordinate textures, colors, and flower patterns in your landscape.

WQED Writing Program

When: Saturday, March 7

Time: 1 - 2 p.m.

 Ages: Children in grades K - 5

 Join us as we welcome PBS Kids (WQED) to our library for a special writing program as part of the PBS Kids Writers Contest. Children will participate in fun writing and illustrating activities and have the opportunity to participate in the PBS Kids Writers Contest!

Pysanky Egg Display And Demonstration

When: Tuesday, March 8

Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

 Michael Yanchak will display a variety of Pysanky Eggs, discuss the history and significance of the eggs, and offer a brief demonstration of decorating techniques. A display of Pysanky Eggs will also be available prior to the program in the display case located on the 2nd floor near the Reference Desk.

Celebrate High Dynamic Range Pittsburgh Photography With Dave Dicello

When: Thursday, March 10

Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

 Learn from Dave DiCello the stories behind some of his favorite Pittsburgh photographs and how, where, and when, he was able to capture such unique perspectives. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, DiCello's skilled works will transport you from the North Shore to Mt. Washington across the Pittsburgh Skyline to Oakland and beyond. Prints will be available to purchase following the program.

Easter Egg Hunt

When: Tuesday, March 22, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. OR Thursday, March 24, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.

Join Miss Linda at the library for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Starting off with a story and craft….building to the egg hunt finale! Limited space available. You MUST register in the Children's Department.

Heartbreak Close To Home: The Heroin Epidemic In Our Communities

When: Thursday, March 31

Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Peters Township Public Library and the League of Women Voters of Washington County, in consultation with Washington Drug & Alcohol Commission Inc., and Harry J. Fruecht, Peters Township Police Chief/Public Safety Director, are hosting an informative program intended to educate both adults and teens. The discussion will focus on providing an overview of the rising heroin addiction and overdose epidemic in our communities. Guest speakers will explain treatment and legal issues. Experts will address the importance of prevention including the role of the community in breaking the heroin connection.
