The Board of Trustees of the Bentleyville Public Library recently adopted a strategic plan. The plan identifies issues that will be addressed as the trustees, library staff, and community work to shape the library’s future.
The strategic plan includes the library’s mission statement and vision statement. It also includes goals the library community will work to achieve over a five year period. The plans provides strategies foreach goal.
As stated in the strategic plan, the mission of the Bentleyville Public Library is to provide an environment, resources, and programs that inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, encourage the love of reading, and enhance the quality of life in our community.
The library’s vision is to be the recognized center for reading and resource materials, technological resources, and opportunities for lifelong learning for all residents of the community. It seeks to be a model among small town libraries in offering innovative services and programs to residents of the community.
The goals addressed in the strategic plan are: 1) Advance Organization Development, 2) Expand Public Awareness of Services and Programs, 3) Strengthen the Financial Base, 4) Expand the Library Collection, and 5) Renovate and Expand the Library to Address Current and Future Needs.
The Bentleyville Public Library serves the residents of the boroughs of Bentleyville, Cokeburg, and Ellsworth and the townships of North Bethlehem and Somerset. The library is a member of the Washington County Library System.
