Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center will hold an "Irish Sweepstakes: Night at the Races" fundraiser at 30 Donner Place (formerly John L. Gibson Garage) on Saturday, March 7 starting at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes a hot buffet, beer, wine, pop, snacks and dessert.

Only 120 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be obtained at the library or by calling 724-684-5790. No one under 21 years of age will be admitted. Proceeds will benefit the library technology fund.

Sarris Easter candy can be ordered online through the library website: www.monessenlibrary.org with the library receiving a percentage of the sales in return. Log in and follow the directions to place the order. Seven varieties of Sarris candy bars are also available at the library circulation desk for a donation of $2 per bar.

Contact Dave Zilka, Library Director, at 724-684-4750, if interested in sponsoring a magazine subscription to the library for the year 2015. Several titles are available for sponsorship.

Spring Storytime has begun! On Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m., the library will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with one of his many wonderful stories and a craft. On March 16, a St. Patrick's Day Storytime will fill the library with leprechauns and the wearing of the green. Easter will be the focus on March 30. National Library Week will be observed at the April 13 storytime. On April 20, the topic will be Earth Day and spring. Each session will feature a story and a craft and is held in the upstairs Children's Room. An elevator is available for those needing it.
