It is almost time for the West Newton Library's second annual tea, so we need your help. The Friends of the West Newton Library are actively looking for donations of vintage or gently used matching china tea cups and saucers. These lovely cups will be used at our tea as party favors this year. Please give the library a call if you would like to make a donation. We would be happy to take just one, whatever you might have.
The West Newton Library is currently accepting donations for its 3rd Annual Mega Jewelry Sale. All of our wonderful patrons and donors made this past years sale a wonderful success we are now starting early of next year. The library is currently accepting donations of estate, vintage, antique, costume and modern jewelry, as well as wooden and glass jewelry boxes. Please give us a call if you are cleaning out an attic, a dresser drawer, or an old jewelry box. All of your donations will benefit the library.
The West Newton Public Library's summer reading program has come to a close. It was held at the West Newton Lions Club field and 25 - 45 children came each week. Volunteers read the books and teachers from the school even gave up the day to come and share with the children. Each week's activity pertained to the theme "Come Fly with Me" and, using their imaginations, the children were able to fly. They also engaged in a physical activity and, of course, had a treat, which was provided by the West Newton Library and Gary Johnson - delicious! The West Newton Public Library Board and volunteers want to thank all who made this program a success and are looking forward to next summer.
In September, there will magic at the library, as we will be making "Elephant Toothpaste." Come and see for yourself the third Saturday in September beginning at 10 a.m.
West Newtown Library is located at 124 N. Water St., West Newton and can be reached at 724-872-8555.
