Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center is participating in the “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” summer reading experience, which explores topics from sports to nutrition, to fun movements to get children active and learning. Please note the Monday evening StoryTime time has changed to 5:30 p.m.
The children’s schedule for August 2016 is:
- Monday, August 1, “Junk Food Chemistry" at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Children will experiment with different kinds of foods, while learning the science behind them.
- Wednesday, August 3, “National Watermelon Day" at 11 a.m. A celebration of the summer fruit.
- Saturday, August 6, “National Root Beer Float Day" at 11 a.m. Fun activities with a refreshing root beer float.
- Monday, August 8, “Book Lovers Day" at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A celebration of books and all things reading!
- Wednesday, August 10, “Toddler Time" at 11 a.m.
- Saturday, August 13, “Acts of Kindness Day" at 11 a.m. Learning ways to give back to the community, families and the world.
- Monday, August 15, “National Cupcake Day" at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Each child will decorate a cupcake and participate in cupcake activities. Yum!
- Wednesday, August 17, “Toddler Time" at 11 a.m.
- Saturday, August 20, “End of Summer Reading Celebration" at 11 a.m. Games, prizes and FUN!
- Monday, August 22, “Tooth Fairy Day" at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A story about losing teeth. The children will create a pouch for their door to be used by the Tooth Fairy.
- Wednesday, August 24, “Toddler Time" at 11 a.m.
- Saturday, August 27, “Back to School Prep Day" at 11 a.m. School prep games and fun for all!
- Monday, August 29, “Alley the Alligator Appreciation Day" at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
