Monongahela Valley Hospital received accreditation from The Joint Commission in Advanced Disease-Specific Certification in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in certified organizations. A surveyor from The Joint Commission evaluated Monongahela Valley Hospital for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients.

Free event at California University of Pennsylvania includes screenings, educational information and blood drive

The public is invited to attend California University of Pennsylvania's 27th annual health fair, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the south conference wing of the Convocation Center.

Admission is free to "Cal U Health for Life," which is coordinated by the University's Health and Wellness Education Center.

The Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association (JHAAA) recently received the Silver Performance Achievement Award for EMS units from the American Heart Association (AHA). JHAAA is only one of ten EMS units in Pennsylvania to receive this award.

Hospitals & Health Networks magazine has named St. Clair Hospital among the 2014 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems in the United States. It marks the third consecutive year St. Clair has been deemed Most Wired.

Approximately 1,900 hospitals applied this year for recognition as America's Most Wired health care providers.

These men and women, who are among some of the area's most respected business, medical and community leaders, passionately provide vision to the hospital and its affiliated organizations as the health care providers fulfill their missions to enhance the health of the residents of the mid-Monongahela Valley area. On June 18, MVH and MVHR reelected their boards.
