Have you ever won an argument? I mean, have you ever actually changed someone else’s mind? don’t believe so. After all, it is that person’s mind, and if it changes, it is because they themselves changed it.
The truth is…arguing is an exercise in futility. When we are in the midst of an argument, the ineffectiveness is difficult to recognize, but when we are observers of an argument, the pointlessness becomes clear.
There is absolutely no benefit in arguing. An argument consists of two people who are talking and not listening. On the other hand, a healthy discussion where opinions and ideas are shared can be useful. When people are talking AND listening, actual communication is taking place.
I believe there may be a reason that we have two ears and one mouth - listening is twice as important (and much more difficult) than talking.
